OPTIWISE invites you to its first workshop!
Workshop “Operational concerns on board wind-propelled commercial ships”.
April 19, 2023 | 13:30 – 15:30 CET
Wind propulsion is fast becoming a promising and attractive solution to the decarbonisation of shipping
In the EU Horizon project OPTIWISE, we are rethinking the design and operation of wind-assisted ships. But how can we apply it in the most safe and efficient way?
We kindly invite you, as industry experts on ship operation, to share your input:
What should the focus be?
What constrains should be set?
After we first introduce you to our project and present our first results, we will work together to create an inventory of operational aspects of wind propulsion and how to address them.
This workshop is organised as part of the Blue Week. The BlueWeek is an initiative of MARIN to promote the smart and sustainable use of environment in the maritime sector, from energy to transport. The main objective is to bring together the actors that will enable an efficient implementation of the energy transition. Those actors are the industry, the research institutes, universities and authorities. In order to reach such goals, seminars are organized with a series of presentations on ongoing innovations and projects and we provide an open platform (the Forum) to pitch new Joint Industry Project (JIP) Initiatives. Those pitches will hopefully allow the start of such collaborative projects, where participants can join force in research & development at pre-competitive level.
The themes of BlueWeek are:
Natural Propulsion technologies (use of environmental forces such as wind, solar, water),
Zero Emission transport and shipping.
Renewable Ocean Energy (tidal, waves, floating wind, floating solar)
Blue Life (use of the ocean for sustainable farming, fishing, biomass production, ocean life protection, sustainable human activities at sea)
